Broncho Cheer Wins Regionals, Makes History
I’ve started to think of my website as a little journal for myself, versus a place I particularly plan to share with others. I forget about it so often, then will find myself wanting to sit down and put together a post about something I want to remember. Well, our varsity cheerleaders winning Regional for the first time ever is certainly one of those things. On November 19th, 2023, our team of 15 won the Small Varsity Coed Game Day division at UCA Regionals. It was held at Hamilton Southeastern HS and we took home a score of 88.2. The Game Day division consists of four judged sections, all worth…

Skelton Family Fall 2022
It has been such a wonderful experience working with Lindsay Konopa and Julia Wadsworth over the past year and a half. We started with maternity pictures last summer, then added Roan’s newborn session, a spring family session, Roan’s one-year photos, and one last family session to round out our series just a few weeks ago. Please check out Lindsay’s work here and Julia’s work here. I cannot rave about them enough. They are easy to work with, great with kids, and they both create such beautiful and REAL work. I can’t wait to work them both again.

Roan Turns One
On August 26th, 2021, our Roan Niles Skelton was born at 7:02 AM- the exact same time her big brother Lake was born. She has been a sweet, smart, and sassy little girl ever since. Happy happy first birthday to our favorite girl. Photos by Lindsay Konopa

Eggcellent Easter
We celebrated Roan’s first Easter and Lake’s third in the sunshine- I am thankful for the beautiful weather we had over the weekend because of course, we met Monday morning with snow. Lake’s pants and shirt are both from Janie and Jack. Roan’s outfit is from Marie Nicole.

Honoring Our Boomer
Two weeks ago, we said goodbye to our sweet Boomer. I was hoping to find the right words to let our friends and family know about her passing by now, but it’s still proving hard to know how to say what she meant to us and we are still feeling our loss every day. She lived an amazing life and we are so thankful that she chose us to be a part of it. No matter the obstacle, her happiness never wavered. Boomer was the sweetest, smartest, most loyal, gentle, and kind girl. She was always willing to snuggle up and she knew who loved her and was sure to…

Be the Change: Diverse Toys to Raise Compassionate Children
Every day, wherever I go, I am a teacher. I am a teacher in my classroom with my high school students, I am a teacher at home with my son, and I am a teacher on the sideline with my athletes. I think right now it can feel overwhelming to find a meaningful way to go beyond posting a black square and actually do the work required of all of us to end racism and show support of, acceptance of, and love for, the Black community. For me personally, I feel that teaching is my way of helping. I feel it is my duty to try harder to raise children…

Mom Appreciation Post
Thank you to my mom. She is my supporter, manager, editor, friend, cheerleader, stylist, and photographer. She is the Lorelai to my Rory, minus all the annoying speed-talking. I am thankful for her and I know that I don’t always show it. Often, we take our anger or frustrations out on our moms because we know that even when we are jerks, they still have to love us. And often, we go to our moms for wisdom. We send them texts like, how do I wash this shirt? or do you like these boots? or how do I respond to this email? She always helped me with pageant paperwork and read over…

Happy Valentine’s Day
Originally written on February 14th, 2017 To me, this day should be about two things: Appreciating your loved ones and eating chocolate covered strawberries. I try to always be appreciative of my forever Valentine, Daniel, so I thought I would share a few stories on this pink and red date that show why I fall more in love with my Mr. every day. I think that any occasion to pause and think about why we love the wonderful people in our lives is a splendid one. Daniel and I don’t ever have too much luck in celebrating V Day- Our first Valentine’s was spent in a plow truck. I spent the wee hours…

Breaking Wedding Traditions
Tradition. I have always valued and cherished tradition. As a cheerleading coach, a former sorority girl, and a pageant gal, I have belonged to many organizations and teams built on tradition. I have worn old uniforms and taught my athletes old cheers, I have learned the history and rituals of Delta Gamma, I have talked to judges about Miss and Mrs. Indiana winners throughout the years and what their stories teach us. I live for the sisterhoods that I belong to and the rich history behind their values. I love that my family always eats a holiday meal promptly at 1 PM and I woke up with a smile on my face every Saturday morning in…
