Hair Products I Use and Love
I searched for years for a one-size-fits-all solution to getting the best version of my curls and what I realized is that no one product or styling tip works for everyone. You really have to spend time learning YOUR hair and figuring out what it likes (and, understand that it may change over time). Curly hair is so unique and even the best stylists can’t predict what your hair will do in certain conditions. For example, many curly-headed friends hate humidy because it causes major frizz. But, I have never had frizz and my hair LOVES the humidy. My best hair days have been in Florida. So, here are the products I use and a little bit about how I use them, but keep in mind that what works for me may not work for you:
I started using Cursmith products over a year ago and I will never turn back. I use them in different ways and play around with which combos/order of use works best for me. In the shower, I use the shampoo TWICE and the conditioner on my ends. I don’t use conditioner on my scalp. After showering, I generally use the foam first (four-five pumps) and then go for one of the gels (flexi gelly or styling souffle). I suggest working products through your hair completely then twirling or scrunching hair. If I am not washing my hair, I use the memory reactivator spray on dry hair and crunch a bit.
I use a diffuser on my dryer always. I dry my hair by leaning over and dropping my hair into the diffuser.
A good teasing comb is the best thing for helping give lift and volume to roots. I use mine to tease under the hair by my face a bit to give some height. I don’t like when my hair looks flat around my face.
Other suggestions:
-Use products after the shower on VERY wet hair
-Always dry hair completely when blow drying- Damp hair won’t be as curly when it dries because of the extra weight from the wetness
-Avoid sleeping in a wet hair bun and tight hair ties
